Is kickboxing safe for me, considering my back problems?

I got a moved disc in my back, near the bottom of the shoulder blades, from a sports-related injury. Prior to it, I've done kickboxing, so I am by no means a beginner. My father thinks I should not do it for now but I feel it calling me! In addition, the only pain I get from it, is when I sit in uncomfortable positions, carry heavy things, disproportionately pressure my back, basically from minor things. It doesn't bother me to continue playing full-contact street basketball and football games and to swim. I know that something like wrestling could hurt my back more, but can stand-up boxing? I want to continue but don't want to compromise my back more.
