How do you deal with people who put the microscope on you?

Tell them the truth and how talented and resourceful people do not need to compete with anyone to get noticed. Most successful people cooperate and are not overly critical of others. It is also very effective to remind such people that no one is perfect and encourage them to take action toward goal setting, behavior modification and self improvement.
