Can acupuncture make costochondritis worse?

diagnosed with costo two and half weeks ago still in lots of pain and taking lots anti inflammatories in desperation and under suggestion from a friend i tried a reputable acupuncturist, however it flared up costo even worse. is this normal for acupuncture? perhaps its not suitable for costo afteral . anyone found the answer to costo pain?
